Meal prep bowls for real weeks—reliable, repeatable, and actually enjoyable.
I’m Holland Rashelle Fergurson, the creator and author of Bowl Prep Daily. This site grew out of my long-running struggle with weekday lunches: I didn’t want to cook from scratch every day, but I was tired of dry leftovers and takeout.
What I wanted was simple: bowls I could prepare ahead—rice bowls, grain bowls, and salad bowls—that would still taste fresh and be easy to repeat in a real home kitchen.
Why bowl meals?
Bowls are naturally flexible. One basic formula—grain, protein, vegetables, sauce, and a finishing touch—can take on a different flavor each day through a change of sauce or toppings, without requiring a completely new meal.
Every guide comes from real kitchen testing. These are not theoretical plans; they are first-person kitchen notes shaped by repeated attempts at my own stove. I share my weeknight skillet method for chicken thighs, drying and separation techniques that help salads stay crisp, exact proportions and pairing notes for five homemade sauces, strategies that combine freezer-friendly components with fresh finishes, and cold-lunch packing plans for days without a microwave.
What you’ll find at Bowl Prep Daily
- Practical recipes and guides: Clear yields, cooking order, visual doneness cues, storage arrangements, and reheating guidance.
- Flexible formulas: Straightforward ways to swap ingredients according to what you have, your food preferences, or what needs using in the refrigerator.
- Solutions to real problems: Ideas for leftover rice, separating hot and cold components, preventing sogginess, choosing a container system, and preparing breakfast ahead.
- A transparent approach: Every piece is kitchen tested and editorially reviewed. I am not a dietitian or a professional chef—just an enthusiastic home cook. I clearly separate personal experience from official food-safety guidance and link to reliable sources when that distinction matters.
My promise
Everything here is designed for a real week. You should not need perfect equipment, and I am not chasing Instagram-perfect plating. The goal is simply to make Monday-through-Friday lunches something to look forward to rather than something to get through.
Whether you want two quick lunches, a batch of four or five bowls, or a plan for a specific challenge such as freezing or packing for a commute, you will find a tested system built for that situation.
